  1. What's your diagnosis?

    A: Myoepithelioma

    B: Myxoid liposarcoma

    C: Pleomorphic adenoma

    D: Mucoepidermoid carcinoma

Answer

The correct answer is C, pleomorphic adenoma. However, this is only a biopsy, thus this may not represent the whole tumor.

-Low-grade salivary gland neoplasm (see Comment).

COMMENT: Histologic sections demonstrate minute fragments of a focally biphasic-appearing neoplasm set in myxoid stroma. If the biopsy is representative of the entire lesion, the findings are consistent with a pleomorphic adenoma. As sampled, there is no evidence of malignancy.
